Heading to Germany for more Treatment

DSC_0030

Dusseldorf is my latest destination in searching for the perfect treatment to allow me to finally get back to training after two extremely slow tedious years of rehabilitation . I recently visited the USA to spend two valuable weeks with a joint compromised rehab specialist and after suffering with swelling In the joint yet again, he suggested visiting a colleague in Germany for a procedure called Orthokine in an attempt to diffuse the problem.

In the UK this type of treatment is fairly unknown but its been commonly used with a variety of athletes in the US with some really positive results. I’m not entirely sure of the exact procedure although I know they take blood from me, increase the temperature and subject that blood to different treatment before injecting it back into my knee, not articulately explained but I’m sure you get the general idea. I’m here for 5 days in which I will receive 6 different injections along with acupuncture. I’ve been told I should notice an improvement in pain and swelling by the end of the week, a bigger improvement by 6 weeks and an even larger improvement after 3 months.

This could be my final medical treatment as at the moment there’s not much more medical science can do to improve the situation but hopefully this will be the final piece of the jigsaw that will allow me to continue moving forward. If unfortunately my body doesn’t react significantly to the treatment, this is by no means the end of the world, but just that I have to accept that I have to continue to be patient while my biology deals with the trauma in my knee in its own time………..

This is my site. I play football and have written this thing that you see above this box. There are likely to be typos cos I'm a footballer

Hi Shaun, having had knee grief and an op myself (nothing like as major as yours), and being a life-long Derby fan, I have followed your rehab. Seems to have been quite a trial so far. Fingers crossed for you. Is not just from Derbyshire that send you best wishes.
